Rank: Commander
Primary duty: Executive Officer
Secondary duty: Tactical Operations
Father: Asada, Hiro
Partner: Ryan, Freya
Age: 30
Embryotic (second generation)
Career:
Though Meng never advanced to the highest level of classes offered on Unity, he excelled in technical aptitude, mathematics and critical analysis during his educational assessment. While he would have excelled as an engineer, he took a menial, below deck maintenance assignment straight out of secondary classes.
While he worked, he built friendships with other embryotics who felt persecuted by the system on board Unity. It would be years before they called themselves the "Sons of Liberty", but the rebellious group was born and festered in the bowels of the ship.
Family and Relationships:
Meng's parents were both first generation embryotics. Hiro Asada, his father, rose further than most first geners, securing a crewman spot within Main Engineering. He rose to the rank of specialist, before his death at the hands of young Aribeth Bonwick. Meng's mother, unnamed, worked hard in the ship's laundry facilities. With no siblings and parents who worked a lot, Meng was left to care for himself in the hours after school.
As a young adult, Meng had no long term, romantic relationships. Primarily solitary, he found it difficult to commit the time needed to develop a lasting relationship. Surprisingly, during the heavy fighting of the rebellion, he found companionship with Freya Ryan. The pair fought endlessly but often ended up in each other's arms. This intense beginning led to a rocky relationship after the rebellion ended as Freya pulled away and Meng tried to get closer.
A few weeks after the rebellion had ended, Freya told him she was pregnant and then walked away from the relationship, leaving him to wonder about their future.
Allegiances:
With friends, Meng began the Sons of Liberty, a group intent on altering the prejudicial rules that controlled their society. After the rebellion ended, with the Sons of Liberty claiming a victory, he accepted that Captain Hunt was an advocate and agreed to serve along side him as they worked for further change.
